We start with this board. It's beat up a bit and it's got a cool red tinge.
I really, really wanted to transfer a few photos on to the board using this technique. I even dug out a moldy Hobby Lobby gift card from last Christmas and bought the supplies. But for the life of me, I could not find a business that does laser printing. The lady in the photo department at Wal-mart had no idea what I was talking about. The guy at Kinko's referred me to an embroidery shop. My attempts at transferring photos printed on an ink jet pretty failed as well. So I settled for mod podging the heck out of the pics and slapping them on the board. I also used a flat head screwdriver and Kb's pocket knife, under his supervision, to make the carvings in the center.
It doesn't look quite as super as it did in my head (typical). But it's kinda neat.
Next up is a heavy beam with pegs that I found in the barn. We cleaned it up to get rid of the termites, Kb claimed.
My mom gave me a can of brown spray paint that was leftover from a recent project she did to cover the silver bolts. Are they bolts? Or are they screws or something else? My tool knowledge is severely limited. Regardless, they are still silver because I could not get any of that spray paint to spray. Spray paint and I have a tedious relationship. Maybe the silver dots will just have to add to the character.
