Spring into Summer

There is a shift in lifestyle that occurs between the short, cold days and the longer, sunnier ones. I think at our house, we've jumped the chasm.

It is summertime.

Leaves are on the trees, flowers are (kind of) blooming, and the grass needs cut frequently. And we're busy. Weddings, horse shows and lessons, fishing trips, bonfires and working in the yard, keep us hoppin. All the fun outdoors stuff pushes us out of the house, and cleaning becomes less of a priority. I'm already starting to feel the crumbs beneath my bare feet on the kitchen floor.

Dinner gets served later, which pushes back bedtime. Less sleep is ok though, because when that cell phone alarm chirps in the morning, the sun is rising as well, providing a veritable kick in the pants to start the day.

There's a sense of carelessness in the air. Spontaneity feels reasonable, almost encouraged. Late night ice cream run? Heck yeah!  Shirking responsibilities to embark on a camping adventure? Sure thing!

I don't know what all this new season holds, but I have a feeling it's gonna be a good one.
