Subtlety has never been his strong suit. He came home with the movie Tower Heist. I tried to hide my slight disappointment; although, I don't think it worked because I'm horrible at concealing emotion. Kb explained that this movie was the logical choice because it is older, and One For The Money was new at the Red Box so it would be available for awhile. Mmmk.
I prepared myself for a typical theft/heist film that has a plot that is entertaining, yet canned, like that of Italian Job, The Ocean's Series, Inside Man, The Bank Job, etc. Not that those are bad movies; I just appreciate originality.
But to my surprise, this movie delivered. It wasn't like what I had expected at all. Yeah, they were trying to steal something that was hidden in the building with the highest level of security, and they faced several obstacles along the way, but it was not predictable. There was action but not too much. An ethical dilemma existed, which I enjoy. The comedy was hilarious and well-timed. Ben Stiller was great, and Eddie Murphy wasn't too obnoxious.
If it wasn't for the Red Box policy of renting a movie for only one night, I'd want to watch this movie again, and that is saying something because I rarely enjoy reruns.
I mistakenly judged the movie by it's title. Kudos on the choice, Kb!
