The Living Room

As previously discussed, our house was initially uninhabitable. Here I present the living room transformation.

Before
(I know. The bug bomb adds a nice touch. Oh and thank your lucky stars smell-o-vision has yet to be invented.)

After
(My deepest regrets for the poor camera quality.)

This room came together with the help of several of people. We're designing on a budget, ya'll!
The huge, dark red couch is courtesy of my Aunt Kim's neighbor. The creamy colored couch is courtesy of Kb's brother-in-law's father. The greenish chair is courtesy of a beloved someone. My dad works at Miller's Merry Manor, a nursing home, and sometimes when people depart, they leave things behind. And the tv and tv stand are courtesy of my cousin, Monica. Kb pines for the day when we can buy one of them fancy HD tv's.

The coffee table is a super cool original. My dad made it out of an electrical wire spool.

And the ladder?

Earlier today, I fetched my horses from the back pasture by the apple tree. On my way, I passed the giant pile of branches and sticks that my family has lovingly dubbed, "the habitat." On the top of the pile was an old, wooden ladder. Visions of pretty things danced through my head. I drug the ladder up to the shop and asked my dad if he could cut off a piece for me. He obliged and got out the chain saw. He made me promise not to tell my mom; she would want a piece, too! I inherited my visions of pretty things from her.

Currently, the ladder is holding throw blankets, and it's doing a swell job at it. But I have bigger dreams for that baby, horizontal dreams. Something like this

These two pieces make my heart happy.

This one was a gift from my parents. The frame is gen-u-ine wood from up in the barn.

This one was a gift from Kb. It was found at a cool, new store in town called Thai Expressions. Who would've thought?

  1. Finally pictures of a done room! I absolutely love it! It is so well done! I love the ladder and the spool coffee table! Wish we weren't so far away so I could come sit in it with you!
